Got a fiber backbone that's just out of reach to bridge in one run, or do you need to continue a multimode fiber path as a single-mode link? This Mini OEO media converter acts as a 3R repeater and fiber signal regenerator. OEO (Optical-Electrical-Optical) means the light signal is briefly converted into an electrical signal to be cleaned up, then sent back out as light. Both sides carry an SFP+ slot, so you decide which module to place at each side — to link two different fiber types together, or to send the signal onward at a different wavelength.

Technical features
The converter operates at transmission speeds from 8.5 to 11.7 Gb/s and supports a range of 10-Gigabit protocols: 10G LAN (10.31 Gbps) for Ethernet, 10G WAN (10 Gbps), SDH STM-64 / SONET OC-192 (9.95 Gbps, for telecom transport), OTN OTU-2 (10.70 Gbps), 8.5G and 10G Fiber Channel (for storage), 10G POS (Packet over SONET, network data over SONET fiber), and 10G LAN with FEC coding (11.09 Gbps — FEC = Forward Error Correction, for extra error correction).
Maximum forwarding rate: about 14.9 million packets per second. Both sides carry an SFP+ slot, with a reach of up to 80 km per module. The unit supports jumbo frames and hot plugging.
It runs on an external 5-12 V DC adaptor and uses no more than 4 W. It works reliably between 0 and +50 °C.
