SFP is mainly used for 1G connections, while SFP+ is designed for higher-speed connections, typically 10G Ethernet. The form factor is similar, but the supported data rate and application are different. Always check whether your equipment has an SFP or SFP+ port before selecting a module.

Single mode fiber transceivers are used when data needs to travel over longer optical distances.
