The inner build of this lc to lc fiber cable centres on G.652D single mode glass with a 9/125 micron core.

That pair of numbers refers to the light-carrying core (9 micrometre diameter) and the cladding around it (125 micrometre).

Through that narrow channel, the optical signal travels in a straight line, which gives stable transfer across kilometres.

The signal drop — insertion loss in technical terms — stays typically at 0.20 dB. The portion of light that reflects back (return loss) holds above 50 dB.

On the outside: LSZH jacket (releases very little smoke and no halogen during fire) with a 2.2 mm metal layer beneath for mechanical protection.
