Technical details

On the optical side, this cable uses G.652D single mode glass — a worldwide standard for long-distance links.

The 9/125 micron core (where 9 refers to the diameter of the light-carrying core in micrometers and 125 to the cladding around it) keeps light travelling in a narrow, straight path.

Insertion loss (the signal drop along the path) sits typically around 0.20 dB, and return loss (the bit that bounces back) climbs above 50 dB.

Mechanically, the outer jacket is LSZH (a sheath that releases very little smoke and no halogen during fire), with the cable armored beneath the jacket by a 2.2 mm metal layer that protects the glass core. This fibre optic patch cord handles 400 N (40 kg) pull tension and 5J impact load.

Operating range is -20°C to +70°C, with RoHS, REACH and IEC60332-1 certification. Suitable for indoor use.
